Fond Memories of Ohio

I am going to start a new line of blogs here.  It will be called, "From the Vaults of My Mind".  This first one hits me from my latest trip to Ohio for a class reunion.  Do I/Will I miss Ohio? As much as I sometimes miss and long for the long dusk evenings...... those summer nights when the sun's warmth is finally set and that moment on the cool uncumbered breeze you can smell the heavy sweet scent wafting in from the corn fields. When you see a storm roll in from the distance and the exact moment it hits the sweet fresh rain comes pounding down.  Who knew that rain could smell clean, sweet and fresh with just a hint of earth worm. One can see for miles with the occasional clump of trees, a house or a barn.  It seems every bit of land that is big enough has a token pond.  Farmlands spread everywhere.  Not like in Tennessee where they are dotted in and between the valleys. And the old buildings....... Where some places would rather tear down...

Ok, I'll Admit It. I'm Dumb!

Yes Lovelies, I'm dumb.  I've had to download a new movie editor onto my laptop.  Last time I edited a video YouTube still had a built in one.  They have since removed it.  They have fun pops and whistles, but for the meat of the program.....nope. I have spent two days trying to learn a new program to edit my video that is anxiousely waiting to be posted.  I feel like banging my head into the wall repeatedly. LOL I knew I was getting old, but dang!  Since when did learning simple commands become rocket science?  Anywho, I will do my best and I hope I will have something up by this Friday. I hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day, Ash Wednesday and on Friday Happy Chinese New Year. No Worries, S.K.O.!

Cold Days Hot Nights

Hello, my lovelies, I hope this blog finds you all well.   I've just filmed three short videos that I will be posting to my channel today. Saturday was fun!   I was chatting during a live feed with Jacob Carpetbagger and Adam the Woo while they were in Venice Beach CA.  They did a shout out to my daughter and she turned five shades of red.  Loved it!  Today I will be trying to catch up on a few crafts and completing them before I go to Rotary tonight.  I'm a sponsor for the Interact club and we have to make sure all our paper work is complete for our trip to the 2018 conference in March.  Time is flying by too fast. As stated in a previous post, my calendar is full to capacity and stuff is still being added.  I'm about to pass out from my brain spinning around. LOL I hope you have an awesome day, stay peaceful at heart, care about not only others but yourself and show respect to everyone.   Have fun, life is short. No Wo...

New Starts New Paths

Good morning! I hope this post finds all my family and friends well.  I just wanted to post today a little of what the store is doing and what I'm doing on a personal level.  I know some people might think that I'm just lazy about posting here, but I've just been way busy. :) The store now has six groups that meet through out the month.  We have a Tipsy Yoga class (that will dive into chakrah, yoga and tai chi), a Meet and Greet (where people with like minds can find others in town), Beginers Belly Dance class, Bones and Shadows (taxidermy and ghost hunting), and Bits and Bob's Crafters (people can bring a craft in progress or learn a new craft).  That's just the groups.  Then we attend craft fairs, and other local events, and are vary involved in the community.   We are members of our local Rotary  club and I'm a sponsor member for our Interact group (just High School right now).  We do events with both these groups.  So I promise I'...

Back to the Living

Good morning all my lovely S.K.O. fans! Just a quick touch base blog.  I feel like I've been living amongst the dead. LOL I hope the blog finds you warm and well.  The flue has been bad this year since the "shot" was considered null in void.  I wont go further on that subject because anyone who knows me knows where I stand on the matter of shots. I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Yorkshire Pudding, Thank a Letter Carrier, Dump Your Significant Jerk, Homemade soup, Stuffed Mushroom, World Cancer, Sweater Day.  I'm going to start video taping some of my crafts that I'm doing for the shop, as well as some scheduled videos and live videos. With the new year will be new adventures I hope have you all follow me as we venture into the crafty, odd, bizzar and fandome as best we can. :) Take care and stay safe. No Worries, SKO!

New Beginnings and Fresh Restarts

I just want to take a moment and wish everyone a happy Fall.  October starts tomorrow and a new month with no mistakes in it.  We are blessed every single new day to have a clean slate.  Sure we will slip up or fall back, but that's ok. That's how we learn and grow.  Stand strong.  Don't let others tell you how to live your life.  Let them stand on the side line of life and shake their heads or point their fingers, but one things for sure at least you are moving forward while they are standing still.  Never forget that. We were placed here on Earth to help each other.  To take care of each other.  Not to coddle, not to hinder, not to treat each other like snowflakes.  We have to make our mistakes so we can learn.  Life is rough and we can learn from that as well.  Hiding from reality or the truth is never the answer.  It's just nice to know that in this crappy world full of hate, jealousy, laziness, ignorance and gre...

The Halloween Season

I love this time of the year.  All new house hold decorations are being brought out on the shelves. All the skeletons, skulls, pumpkins, ghosts.  I just love it.  No, I'm not in love with the dead.  No, I'm not weird.  No, I'm not mental.  I just find beauty in odd things.  Of course odd to you is normal to me.  As Mortia Addams quoted. "What is normal to a spider is chaos to a fly."  Its all in how you look at things. It's funny how people are the same way too.  How someone lives, looks or acts might be quite normal to them even though you think their ugly, weir, odd, rude and so on.  Be kind with your words, they have more effect on the human body than you know.  Our body is made up of 80% water.  They have proven that water can be effected by what is spoken, written and things dropped into it.   If this can happen to water in a glass or bottle, what about the water in a human body?  Think about that. ...

Trees and Life

A farmer who tethers a to straighten it is like braces on teeth.  He lets the wind, rain and sun hit the tree so it's roots will be deep and it's wood strong.  Sometimes even leaving stones in the ground for the trees to have foot holds.  A second farmer plants a tree in a green house where the water and light are just perfect.  No wind hits the tree to strengthen the wood.  It has fluffy soil to stretch it's roots in.  Then gets transplanted outside in a rock free hole. The second tree during the first big wind storm will either snap in two or become up rooted.  With no wind hitting it growing up to strengthen the wood or rocks and hard soil to build a good sound root system it had no defense against what the world through at it. The first tree will weather many a storm, for it's wood is strong, it's roots are deep and healthy from borrowing in the hard soil and around rocks.  It will be hard to up root it or snap it.  Just like the ...

Sizzling Summer Days at SKO's Bits & Bobs

Good Day S.K.O. Family, I hope you are finding some relief in this heat we are having.  This Saturday our town is hosting the annual Polk Salad Festival.  I hope to see some of you there.  Remember, we are across from the REU building. I'm constantly crafting now a days.  I love to create something from chaos.  I hope to start posting some of my creations on here so that you can enjoy them too.  Often I find it hard to sell them because they become my babies, but I must pay for more supplies.  LOL  Thus begins the never ending cycle. The 24th we will be hosting a Fairy Day Festival at our shop.  I love miniatures and fairy gardens and everything magical.  We've discovered a fairy door right in our own shop!  I wonder how they decorated their home?  I would love to see it one day.  May I can take a peek and get a photo to share. As always, we have our anime and manga in the shop as well as our Japanese sweets ...

Cold Noses Warm Beds And Wild Imaginations

I hope this brisk days is finding you healthy and happy.  If not, come see  me and I'll fix you a cup of tea.  :)  I know the weather has been fluctuating a lot lately, but that shouldn't bring us into the depths of despair. Just finish out your day and remember how warm and wonderful your bed will feel tonight when you cuddle up for a good snuggle.  Lately, myself I've been keeping my hands warm by doing crafts.  I enjoy bringing to life new creations for others to love. Between my potions jars, jewelry and fan fiction I've got a full array that I'm working on.  Keeping ones mind busy is always a good thing.  It's when it's left unattended that it gets into trouble. ;) Keep your creative juices flowing and make something today.  Share pics and videos.  Enjoy life, and others in it.  Because life is too short to just toss away on wasted time. I do apologize if my ramblings seem a bit jumpy like a rabbit trail, but my mind does...

Warm Winter Days and Bad Internet

Good morning all.  For some of you the days have you snowed in, but here, here we are almost wearing t-shirts again.  I'm enjoying the weather, but on the other side a lot of people are getting sick from the temp changes.  I just hope it gets cold enough to kill the germs and bugs. LOL  We do need the rain and it is most appreciated.  We are planning a lot of things for the shop this spring.  The one thing I'm working on is getting better internet.  Where we moved to Charter is not available so we have Comcast.  UGH!  I'm looking into a fiber optic company and hopefully they will be faster and no limits.  It's sad when you pay for the best and get sub quality.  On a cheery note I've found that if you are struggling or going through a tough patch finding an outlet helps a lot.  Me, besides my crafts for the store, I've been writing fan fiction.  I can't tell you how wonderful it keeps my mind busy so I'm not up all hours ...

Winter Days

Hello all, I just wanted to jump on here to wish everyone "Happy Holidays" for what ever faith or walk of life you are at right now in your life. It's these times of the year where we feel the most stressed.  It's also due to the longer darkness and cold.  It's in the dark and cold where we feel lost, unloved, alone.  I'm here to say you're not.  Keep your family and friends close during this season of the year.  Keep your fur babies close to cuddle.  Even online friends are a help for the winter blues.  I'm even here if you need an ear to talk to or a shoulder to cry on.  I'm sure we've got more in common than you realize. Take care and stay warm and safe. No Worries, SKO!
Good morning my friends and family, I hope this chilly day finds you warm and in bed with lots of fuzzy blankets, a cup of hot chocolate and a good book.  I'm in my shop right now with a jacket on and cold brewed coffee.  I have found out that it has more of a kick than hot.  The extra bonus is I can down twice as much in a shorter time.  LOL  I have to be careful or I start to act like a humming bird. Recently I have purchased one of those holiday projectors for my store window.  Much to my joyous surprise it can also use it as a laptop projector.   Not only that but it uses SD cars which I have three blanks and a mini with an SD converter cover.  I bet you can guess what I'm going to do. ;)  I'm not going to purchase the "Extra" SD cards from the company.  I'm going to find free videos online and record and convert them.  This will save me a tone of money.  Yes, they may not be the most awesomest quality, but they wi...

It feels good to be open.

Good afternoon all,  I'm just fine tuning my store today and it looks great.  Once I get the crafting area more organized it will be perfect.  Even though life tossed rocks on your path we have many choices to make.  You can either trip over them, walk around them, pick them up and move them or my option use a stick of dynamite on them. Get out of my way cause I'm coming through!  I don't have time to mess around.  I've got bills to pay, babies to look after and a store to run.  lol I hope to post some of my creations on here to show you what I love to make. Just keep your head up, your heart guarded, your nickers pulled up and keep the wind at your back. As always "No worries."  and "S.K.O.!"

New Store, New Beginnings

Hello all,  I hope you are doing well.  We recently just opened up our second generation shop "S.K.O.'s Bitts & Bobs" in Rockwood.  As soon as I find my camera we will do a vlog from our new shop.  Just a few more trips from the house and we are totally out of the old and into the new.  I just have to find a way to get my antique upright piano here.  I'm fifth generation owning it.  New craft ideas.  Finishing up old ones.  Getting my books in order so I can save for a motor home to be able to meet you guys at the cons. Everything is slowing working out. As always, No worries and SKO!

Tuckered Out

We've been working hard on the new shop.  We are getting it mudded tomorrow then I can paint.  Also painted my living room, dining room and part of the kitchen before I ran out of paint.  I can say this as a fact, moving is great exercise.  Cleaning the new house, packing your stuff, moving your stuff to the new house, unpacking it and then cleaning the old house.  If all goes well we will open up on Oct. 31. No Worries  and SKO!
